What is a Doula?
A Doula is a professional, non-medical, support person.
Different types of Doulas include…
✨ A Birth Doula provides emotional, physical and informational support to birthing people before, during and immediately after childbirth.
✨ A Postpartum Doula cares for the new parents in their home in the first few weeks following the birth.
✨ A Full Spectrum Doula supports all types of families in different situations from preconception, to birth, to abortion, to miscarriage, to adoption, and postpartum.
✨ A Death Doula assists in the dying process and helps families cope with the death of a loved one.
FYI - I am a Birth Doula with Postpartum Doula training.
Which means that I love to help my families prepare for the postpartum period and I include a visit (or more) with each of my birth packages.
However, at this time, I am not working in the homes of new families whom I don't support during birth.
But I can recommend a handful of other phenomenal postpartum doulas if you're looking for someone in the home for many hours a day, multiple days per week.
Did you have a doula!?
If so, what kind and what was the best part??
