Yoga for every age, shape, background & ability.

Cultivating Courage & Confidence

Hi! I’m Gigi Yogini. I teach yoga as a way to promote courage and confidence, both on and off the mat. Growing up, I always felt “big.” I was tall and mature looking, and people often assumed I was much older than I actually was. I got teased (just as most kids do), and I still remember the day in 4th grade when an older boy yelled “EARTHQUAKE” when I ran by. Mean, right!? I thought so.

But despite an early insecurity about my body, I was able to cultivate a great sense of confidence through athleticism and physical fitness, while creating community and making new friends. My relationship with my body had its ups and downs, but in college, I met my lowest low. I can point to a lot of things that contributed to my depression sophomore year, but what I’d rather focus on is what I did to heal.

While I got the help that I needed and disconnected from the toxic relationships I was in, I also dove into studying communication and developed a mindfulness practice. Yoga contributed to an overall sense of holistic health and well-being that was missing from my life. It was physical and spiritual. It was private and communal. It was challenging and relaxing. Yoga was an amazing tool to cultivate a greater connection to myself and kept me in the moment through a focus on the breath.

In everything that I do—from writing, video, and podcast production to public, private, and online classes—I try to be an advocate for body positivity and women’s empowerment. My yoga classes are designed to strengthen your body and mind with progressive sequencing, options for variation, and a constant reminder to listen to the wisdom of your inner teacher.

Well-Rounded Teaching Style

As an E-RYT 500 (Expert Registered Yoga Teacher – 500 hrs of certified training), I’ve been teaching ferociously since my first official YogaWorks teacher training in 2009 (although I was teaching a bit before then…shhhh!), and I’ve been leading circles since 2006.

My signature yoga styles include the YogaWorks method, Vinyasa flow, Yin/Restorative, Prenatal/Postpartum Yoga, and Yoga for Kids. I absolutely love working one-on-one with private clients and creating a yoga practice that is tailored to each individual.

Regardless of the style and audience of the class, I teach with compassion, encouragement, and a hint of humor. I have deep reverence and gratitude to my many teachers, especially Kia Miller, Psalm Isadora, Jerome Mercier, Suzanne Sterling, and Patti Quinter, who have influenced me  beyond measure.

A Thought Leader, Writer & Role Model.

I’ve had the distinguished honor of working with a variety of clients and companies. In recognition of my work, I’ve been featured in multiple magazines including Yoga Journal, Mantra Magazine and LA Yoga Magazine. I was also listed as one of Origin Magazine’s “Most Beautiful Women Portraying Strength, Passion and Vision” and named to Athleta’s list of “100 Women to Watch in Wellness.”

I’ve been an Ambassador of Affirmats, FitFit Activewear, Lululemon, Athletica, Manduka, and YogaEarth. My writing and videos can be found on YogaJournal, MindBodyGreen, Elephant Journal, YogaVibes, YouTube and beyond.
